Stressed out at work (P1)
Are you disengaged?
Recent surveys indicate that between 70 to 80% of employees are not fully engaged with their work. This disengagement creates unhealthy workplace environments, affects client interactions, and increases absenteeism.(1)
It is therefore important that employers help set up a productive workplace. And essential for employees take steps to manage work related stress. And what better way to improve productivity than by relaxing?!
Relaxed workers are your best brand ambassadors (P2)
Relaxing the right way
For many, relaxing means zoning out in front of the television or computer screen at the end of a stressful day. But in fact, this does very little to combat everyday stress. To effectively tackle stress, you need to stimulate your body’s “natural relaxation mechanism”. A term coined by Dr. Herbert Benson, founder of Harvard’s mind body institute.(2) This response is essentially the opposite to the more commonly known “fight or flight” response and when activated, it;
- Relaxes muscles
- Decreases blood pressure levels
- Reduces metabolic activity and slows down the heart rate
